Spring in the making.

spring updates and how we made it!

It's been quite some time since we last shared any updates. We've been hard at work creating our Spring and Mother’s Day bandana designs for cats and dogs. In an upcoming blog post, we'll be sharing more about our future plans and our shift to offering cat and dog bandanas moving away from our past offerings.

For now, let's enjoy the springtime we have this Paw Year, and dive into how we used Jovi modeling clay, the Metro X scanner, Cinema 4D, and the Adobe Suite to craft our latest Spring designs.

Behind-the-scenes scan setup for Paw Years spring bandana designs, featuring clay models on a 3D scanner turntable — 2025

First scan attempt.

At first, we tried a simple 360° scan on the turntable using the scanner, but we quickly noticed we also needed to capture them from tilted angles to get better detail underneath. The funny thing with trial and error is that new issues pop up. Once we added the additional scans from tilted angles, the models kept slipping off.

Magnets!

To fix this, we gathered a few small non-slip mats, magnets, the circular adhesive that came with the magnets, some museum putty, and even one leftover bed frame screw — for a really tall carrot we made.

You’ll see this in action below, where we took the small magnets and applied one to each of the clay models. We also used one circular adhesive to attach a magnet to the center of the turntable. That way, if a bunny got too big, we could stack more magnets to help it hold in place. And for the most part, it worked great — until we had to scan the carrot clay models.

Next, we moved on to Cinema 4D, where we imported all the bunny scans and re-meshed the models. We added lighting and clay textures from Greyscalegorilla’s Studio. Once we exported the renders, we brought them into Photoshop, where we added some of our own faces to the 3D models and also used some great assets from Art Talent Studio.

Here’s a full list of all the tools and assets we used to help bring our vision to life:

Finally, the spring designs are featured on our new mockups — and we’ll continue finding awesome ways to showcase our cat and dog bandana designs with you all.

Do your best to have a great week, stay positive, and we look forward to sharing more behind-the-scenes stories in the future. Let us know if you’d like to see a high-quality YouTube breakdown of the full process!
